Flannery Plant Hire is proud to be part of a collaborative initiative aimed at providing Camden residents with the skills and certifications needed for a successful career in construction. This new skills bootcamp, located at HS2’s Euston site, is a collective effort involving Flannery Plant Hire, HS2, its construction partner Skanska Costain STRABAG (SCS), Camden Council, the Euston Partnership, and the Department for Education.

The bootcamp, funded by the Department for Education, offers hands-on training in construction plant operation. Delivered at Flannery’s dedicated training facility on Hampstead Road, just a short distance from Euston Station, the programme covers essential machinery skills, safety practices, and theoretical knowledge. Classroom sessions are held at the nearby Euston Skills Centre, providing a balanced approach to developing the skills required for the industry.

At the end of the programme, participants will gain a Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) card for the machinery they’ve trained on, significantly improving their employability in the sector. Graduates will also be guaranteed an interview for a plant operator role, with around 30 local residents expected to benefit from the training.

Aaron Davis, Safety and Skills Director at Flannery Plant Hire, emphasised the importance of collaboration in this initiative:

“This bootcamp is an excellent example of what can be achieved when industry leaders, local authorities, and education partners come together. It provides Camden residents with valuable skills and a clear pathway to employment in the construction sector.”

HS2 Minister Huw Merriman MP also praised the programme, highlighting how HS2’s investment is benefiting local communities by creating lasting opportunities alongside the infrastructure improvements.

Flannery Plant Hire is committed to creating sustainable employment opportunities and supporting the local community through skills development. Camden residents over the age of 19, particularly those currently out of work or looking to change careers, are encouraged to apply for this exciting opportunity.
