The Prince’s Trust have developed an amazing ‘Get into construction’ program for young people aged 16-25 who are not currently in employment and who are keen to secure themselves a career in the industry.

Designed to help address the current skills shortage and encourage new talent, we are proud that as part of their scheme our Operator Skills Hub co-hosted a free three-week course for eight young adults in January.

Well-rounded training

The candidates who experienced practical and theory training for dumpers and rollers enjoyed first-hand plant training on simulators and even benefited from a confidence-building workshop as part of the employability skills training offered by The Trust.

Beth Hanlon, The Prince’s Trust Youth Development Worker said: ‘The purpose of the course is to get young people who are work-ready into employment, who may have had educational or social barriers, and who are willing to find a new career path.’

Having completed the program, candidates are ready for employment immediately and are supported through their job application process by The Prince’s Trust.

We cannot wait to follow the progress that these young people make in their careers in construction.
