The safety and well-being of our people are of paramount importance to everyone at Flannery. Taking a proactive approach to building a safety culture, we continue to introduce you to people who are working hard to get everyone home safe, every day.
Today we are pleased to introduce you to Ryan, our Plant Fitter, who works at our Birmingham depot. Read our interview with Ryan about his everyday work and a safety-first attitude.
What does a typical day involve?
Ryan: My typical day involves looking after the machines at our depot, getting them ready for hire servicing and repairs.
What is your favourite thing about your job?
Ryan: My favourite thing about my job is fixing a machine and seeing it working and going out for hire.
What do you do to keep yourself safe at work?
Ryan: I keep myself safe at work by keeping a keen eye out for anything that could be harmful to me or others around. It requires a lot of attention and control of everything that is happening on the yard from morning till evening.
What do you do to keep others safe at work?
Ryan: We constantly keep each other safe by looking out for one another at the depot. For example, if I see anything that I think is unsafe, I move it or make it safe. We always arrange daily checks of the workshop to make sure that everything is stored correctly, and housekeeping is done.
